Sandblasting Brick, Block & CMU

We specialize in sandblasting not only old clay brick, but also concrete masonry units (CMU) and all types of block surfaces. Whether the goal is to remove paint, staining, grime, or simply restore a clean, uniform appearance, our process is carefully tailored to the material at hand.

Older clay brick is highly porous and fragile, requiring a delicate approach to avoid surface damage. CMU and modern block, while generally more durable, still demand the right blasting technique to prevent etching or surface degradation. Our experienced technicians understand these differences and adjust media type, pressure, and methods accordingly for each surface.

An essential part of our process—especially when working with brick, CMU, and block—is water injection. These materials generate a significant amount of airborne dust when blasted dry, which can pose safety, health, and environmental concerns. That’s why we always use water-injected blasting to dramatically reduce airborne particles and create a virtually dustless work environment. While dry sandblasting is generally easier and makes for a faster cleanup, wet methods keep the job site cleaner and safer.

As always, we take extensive care to protect all adjacent surfaces through professional shielding methods—using polyethylene sheeting, heavy-duty tape, and containment barriers—to ensure a clean, efficient, and damage-free project from start to finish.
